Andrew Gould, Chairman, BG Group plc
Principal Guest Speaker

Andrew Gould is the Chairman, BG Group plc (since May 2012). Prior to this, Andrew was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Schlumberger Limited (2003-2011). Before this he held multiple positions across Schlumberger in Asia, Europe and the USA.

Andrew was a member of the board of Rio Tinto plc and Rio Tinto Limited from 2002 until May 2012 and Senior Independent Director from 2008. Andrew is a member of the Advisory Board of the Board of Trustees of The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Jeddah Saudi Arabia. He was a member of the Prime Ministers Council for Science and Technology from 2004 to 2007 and served as Vice Chairman Technology for the United States National Petroleum Council’s recent report “Facing Hard Truths about Energy”. Andrew received his degree from the University of Wales and qualified as a chartered Accountant.

He holds an honorary Doctorate in Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, and is an Honorary Fellow of Cardiff University.

Simon Evans
Guest Speaker

With so much TV and radio coverage, Luton born Simon Evans has definitely established himself as one of the UK's top comedians. A number of top TV shows have used Simon's talent as a comedy writer, including, They Think It's All Over and 8 Out of 10 Cats. Simon also writes for some of the UK's top comedy talents such as Sean Lock, Dara O Briain and Lee Evans. He was one of the creators and writers of the Dave Channel's Argumental, which featured John Sergeant as host, along with team captains Markus Brigstocke and Rufus Hound.

In 2005, Simon Evans was one of only three British comics invited to perform at the prestigious Aspen Comedy Festival, alongside Stewart Lee and Eddie Izzard. Previous to that, Simon received a highly enthusiastic reception for his Gala set at the famous Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, where he also headlined the Brit-Com package show to great acclaim. Needless to say, Simon is now a firmly established attraction on the circuit. Simon still headlines at the Comedy Store and top clubs around the country, from the Glasgow Stand to the Brighton Komedia, as well as selling out shows at the New Zealand and Cape Town Comedy Festivals. His hugely popular one man show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, has been running since 2000.

Simon's talents have been put to good use on both television and radio. He wrote for Johnny Vaughan Tonight and The State We're In. He was overall script editor on BBC1's Revolver, script consultant on BBC2's The Live Floor Show and Radio Rivron on Radio 2. A favourite of Radio 4, Simon has hosted and written seven series of the spoof news show, The Way It Is, as well as appearing on numerous panel games and discussion programmes.

He has appeared on The Comedy Store for Channel 5 and BBC1's The Stand up Show. 2010 saw Simon's first appearance on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Road Show. In 2011 Simon had his first foray into mainstream comedy quiz shows, with an appearance on Dara O Briain's Mock the Week with regular panellists Andy Parson and Micky Flanagan.

Bookings for this event are limited to members of the Scottish Oil Club. New membership must be established prior to making your booking. Existing members will renew their membership in July 2012 for the new season, as usual. See Membership for information about membership.

We hold a few tables for individual bookings.

Corporate Members are entitled to book one full table of ten (10) seats, or one-half a full table (5 seats). Half tables are noted in the published programme as hosted tables. Corporate members who chose to become Sponsors are eligible for early booking.

Individual members can book individual seats at the individual tables. Individual members are not eligible to book one-half or full tables.

All tables are 6-feet in diameter and can seat up to 11 if the host prefers. Tables for twelve, or larger diameter tables, are not now available but may be made available in very limited numbers (due to space restrictions) closer to the date of the event, if absolutely necessary.

The cost is UKP£120 + VAT per person for Members of The Scottish Oil Club and their Guests.

Wine Orders for the Event

Pre-orders for beverages, special dietary requirements including vegetarian orders, and/or cheese platters should be directly to the EICC via email. Please complete the form Order Form for Wine and Spirits and Special Menu Requests (Microsoft Word DOC Format) and fax or post it to the EICC (their fax numbers shown on the form). It is not recommended you email the form to them as credit card info in email is not secure.

People with individual bookings can also pre-order for wine, other beverages, or vegetarian meals using the same form. Your individual order will be placed at your seat. You can also wait and order your beverages from your waiter when you sit down at your table.

Your order will be at your table prior to your start of the event. Should you wish to set up a tab on the night your host can do this by credit card, with a receipt issued at the end of the evening. Orders must be received at the EICC by 25th January 2013.

Finding Your Seat at the Dinner

If you are a Table Host or guest, you will hear of your table number from your Table Coordinator. People with individual bookings will hear from the Executive Secretary prior to the event. We also will have a poster with all names in alphabetic order and table numbers on display near the entrance to the EICC. Further, you can find your name in the event programme for your table assignment.
